On National Coffee Day, Dogwood Alliance joins with our partners at Environmental Paper Network to take action to raise awareness that using throwaway cups causes harm to people, forests, water and the climate. This is an international effort to expose the billions of disposable cups used every year. Our “Cupifesto” manifesto calls upon businesses and government leaders to reduce and eventually eliminate throwaway cups.
What can you do to help?
- Share the Cupifesto message on Facebook and Twitter.
- Join Stand.earth’s #BetterCup Starbucks action, demanding Starbucks use recycled cups, make their cups tree-free, and increase their percentage of reusable cups.
- Bring a reusable mug to your favorite coffee shop. Share a photo of you and your friends enjoying a hot beverage in reusable cups and hashtag it #Cupifesto.
- Talk to cafe managers asking them to encourage people to use reusable cups and support the Cupifesto.
Our trees aren’t trash
Together we can build a world that rejects throwaway culture. We need our forests to provide us with clean air and water, to protect us from climate change and storms, to give us places for peace and play. We need our forests, and our forests need us.
