Citizens and environmental groups across the Carolinas called on the state of North Carolina to reject a proposed port expansion to accommodate Enviva in Wilmington, NC. The proposed project involves the lease of state public land at the state port to a wood pellet manufacturer, Enviva LP, for the development of a wood pellet export facility.
With the help of allies at SouthWings, Dogwood does a flyover of the Lousiana Bayou, surveying the bayou basin, wood pellet facilities, and industrial loggin clearcuts.
The “Our Forests Aren’t Fuel” campaign tours the deep south on foot and by helicopter to survey the damage of Enviva’s biomass wood pellet facility to our forests while meeting with and presenting to allies.
Campaigners have awarded the UK Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) the “Biomess Award” after coming out on top of an online poll coinciding with a major biomass industry conference in London, with Drax and the Green Investment Bank coming a close second and third place, respectively.
