One of the hallmarks of Dogwood Alliance’s Carbon Canopy forest carbon project has been an insistence on rigor in our carbon accounting and in our forest management certification. So, what does this “rigor” really mean? For our forest carbon projects it means a lot of work.
We did it! In November at the U.S. Green Building Council’s Greenbuild Trade Show in Philadelphia, the Carbon Canopy announced transactions for carbon offsets from our first two projects in Western North Carolina and Southwest Virginia. So what do you do in 2014 after a successful launch of the Carbon Canopy’s first transactions?
Today, the Carbon Canopy partnership announces the sale of its carbon offsets from its first forest carbon pilot projects, covering more than 12,000 acres on properties located in Western North Carolina and Southwestern Virginia.
At the 2013 Greenbuild Conference in Philadelphia, Dogwood Alliance, in partnership with Forest Stewardship Council-US , Interface, Inc. and Staples announced commitments by Interface and Staples to purchase forest carbon offsets from two projects in the Southern Appalachian region of the US South, developed by the Carbon Canopy.
