We talk a lot about the role of forests in the context of our climate. It’s front and center in Dogwood Alliance’s Carbon Canopy Project where we’re working with partners to conserve and enhance forest carbon stocks with forestland owners in the Southern Appalachians who create high quality forest carbon offsets. And of course, forests and climate are also at the very heart of the Our Forests Aren’t Fuel Campaign, pushing to stop the large-scale burning of biomass from Southern forests for electricity generation in Europe.

That’s why I was so excited to see this recent U.S. Department of the Interior webinar from leading experts on forests and climate: The Role of Forests in Mitigating Climate Change.

Carbon Canopy Forests and Climate

The presenters include Mark Harmon from Oregon State University and Dominick DellaSala from the Geos Institute. This webinar covers complicated but important material. I encourage everyone with an interest in forests, not just forest nerds like me, to take the time to watch this webinar and learn more about how our forests are intimately linked to our climate.
