Dogwood Alliance launched the SOS Campaign to Save Our Southern Forests at Jonas Gerard Gallery in Asheville. Abstract art and forest preservation may seem an unlikely pairing, but with passion and purpose as common denominators, the two make perfect sense.
Environmental groups delivered a petition signed by over 110,000 people to new Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Amber Rudd. The petition calls for an end to government support for Drax’s new White Rose ‘carbon capture’ power station.
EPN addresses the scale of the challenges and opportunities for social justice and conservation presented by the expanding forest, pulp and paper industry. Once gain it was a pleasure to be among committed activists working to advance a common vision to transform the pulp and paper industry into a more environmentally and socially responsible force across the planet.
Recently a couple of us here at Dogwood went out on an investigation of the wood pellet manufacturing facilities in North Carolina. All of the facilities are owned and operated by Enviva and exist for the sole purpose of producing wood pellets to feed the market in Europe, particularly the UK-based utility company Drax.
